Foundations "Special Guests"
In November 2024 Magic released a beginner-facing set called "Foundations" meant to reach younger or less enfranchised audiences. I art directed this series of "special guests" cards that were each a throwback to a previous iconic set, scene or character from Magic's history. Part of the challenge was to art direct a wide variety of different art styles while keeping the series looking cohesive as a whole. Motifs of central compositions, circles and graphic styles helped weave this series together.

Bloomburrow "Field Notes"
This series of cards evokes the look and feel of a biologist's sketchbook as they study their subject out in the wild. I searched for artists who were familiar with creature design and had a loose, traditional media style. The style guide kept this series feeling consistent across various illustrators.

Duskmourn "Double Exposure"
Duskmourn was Magic's set flavored after 80s horror and haunted house tropes. While much of the set centered around themes of slasher and camp horror, this special edition "double exposure" series captured the feeling of the slow burn psychological thriller. Each character was shown overlaid with their greatest fear. The artists were provided with specific CMYK values to work in for this limited palette, so that the series kept its consistency and ensured print accuracy.
